boscoandpeck This song got stuck in my head the first time I heard it. The more I listen to it, the more depth I find in the lyrics and imagery.

thekintnersmusic Articulate, melodic, and unique. I was caught up in orangeG’s mood here. Despite these banjos which are cleverly played and provide a hobo quality to the tune, I’m somehow drawn throughout to the lyrics. That’s rare for a “banjo,” song ..when you think about it. He talks a lot about regret and failure. But there’s an underlying theme of resistance. There’s everything you want in “good lyrics,” in these words. Emotion, turns of phrases, clever hooks.. and most importantly, consi Favorite track: The Dustbin.

about

a banjo tune about persistence

lyrics

Fragmentary and broken
unpolished and unspoken
feel like the corner of the room
I'm just waiting for the broom

But this speck of dust is gonna linger
betwixt a nail and a finger
it might not move the world
but do you really know what makes it spin and swirl?
this speck of dust is going to linger

they reached top of the structure
sphere of silence punctured
said what they had to say
sent me on my merry way
the tyrants of the school yard

But this speck of dust is gonna linger
betwixt a nail and a finger
When it all goes to rust
didn't they know that everything turns to dust
this speck of dust is going to linger

Spent years in reflection
reached a state of near perfection
focus on the flaws
and no applause
in the vacuum of introspection

But this speck of dust is gonna linger
betwixt a nail and a finger
It might not look like much
But didn't you know it all came from dust
this speck of dust is gonna linger
